"Stayed for 3 nites Air Conditioner was broke and not working the first night but they brought us a fan which helped and they fixed it the next morning. Breakfast was great the first morning and went downhill from there- $8.00 per person. Probably not worth it but the coffee was good. No cafe near by. Shower great. Staff helpful. Old building in not a very pretty area but safe enough. Elevator helpful for luggage. Great restaurants on the beach. "

Top San Lorenzo Hotel Reviews

Masseria della Volpe

10/10 Excellent

"What a great spot! The property was beautiful and we really enjoyed the staff, the meals, and the fun."

Hotel Villamare

8/10 Good

"This is a decent hotel. Its main advantages are access to the beach (about a two minute walk), great staff and on-site parking which we have discovered can not be taken for granted in Sicily. However the room we were in (Zeus) felt quite dated. It's an old hotel that would benefit from some love, especially since our 'comfort double room' was $250+/night. We expect a bit nicer accommodations at that price."

Modica Beach Resort

8/10 Good

"clean, comfortable and spacious room, nice terrace with sea view. The beach was well-maintained and the service at the bar was excellent. However, there could be more food options (only a cold sandwich) and the nearest restroom is quite far from the beach. The buffet for breakfast and dinner was quite extensive but the food quality was rather average. Overall, a very pleasant stay and good value for the price."

VOI Arenella Resort

10/10 Excellent

"Really lovely, well maintained resort, with attractive grounds. There are 2 large pools which are very clean and offer shallow children's section alongside a deeper section. One of the pools is quieter and the other has loud music, we enjoyed using both of them. The staff are very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Being mainly English speakers, we didn't find it difficult to communicate with the staff at all. We went to the beach a couple of times, it is 600m away but the hotel has transport to take people which runs most of the day. We went to the evening shows most night but they are mostly in Italian so we struggled a bit, however, our 4 year old daughter still enjoyed dancing along and watching parts of it. The best part is the food! We had delicious pastas, pizza, fish, vegetables, fruit... the food is varied and fresh. Also delicious deserts. The food quality is really good. The drinks need to be improved - they are served mostly in small plastic cups which isn't ideal. To note - we were all inclusive and paid more for a Superior room which was definitely worth it as you get access to a more premium restaurant and you get reserved beach chairs, beach towels, etc. Overall it beat my expectations and we'd go again."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in San Lorenzo?

The best area to stay in San Lorenzo is directly along the beachfront, particularly near the main promenade, for convenient access to the sea and local amenities.

This area is characterized by its long, sandy beach and a pedestrian-friendly promenade lined with various lidos and informal eateries. You'll find many villas and apartments here, offering direct access to the water and views of the Ionian Sea. The main stretch of beach is wide and gently sloped, making it ideal for swimming and sunbathing.

For families, staying along the beachfront is very practical. Children can easily access the shallow waters for swimming, and the proximity to numerous lidos means amenities like sun loungers, umbrellas, and beachside snacks are readily available. The flat promenade is also great for strollers and evening walks.

Couples looking for a relaxing beach holiday will also appreciate this area. The ease of access to the beach for morning swims or sunset strolls is a definite plus.

When is the best time to go to San Lorenzo?

The best time to visit San Lorenzo, Sicily, is during the shoulder seasons of May, June, September, and early October.

These months offer pleasant weather with warm temperatures ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities without the intense heat and larger crowds of mid-summer. You'll find the water warm enough for swimming and the evenings comfortable for dining outside.

For couples seeking a relaxing getaway, these shoulder months provide a more tranquil experience. You can enjoy the natural beauty of the coastline and explore nearby towns like Marzamemi and Noto with fewer people, making for a more intimate trip.

Families traveling with children will also appreciate the milder temperatures, which are more comfortable for kids playing on the beach and exploring.
